Description
What is smaller than a Fethaer card but larger than a Trinket? It's a Itsy Bitsy! Small, powerful, Arduino compatible - this microcontroller card is perfect when you want something very compact, but always with a bunch of pins.
Itsy Bitsy has only 1.4" long by 0.7" wide, but has 6 power pins, 6 analog and digital pins and 17 digital pins. It offers the same capacity as an Arduino UNO or Feather 32u4. So it's great once you've finished a prototype on a larger Arduino, and you want to make the project much smaller.
Itsy Bitsy 32u4 3V 3u4 3u4 8MHz uses the Atmega32u4 chip, which is the same kernel chip as the Arduino Leonardo and the same chip we use in our Feather 32u4. It even works at the same voltage and speed as Feather 32u4, so you'll be happy to learn that not only is Itsy Bitsy programmable with the Arduino IDE as you've already set it up, but a lot of projects will work directly!
We recommend it as an upgrade to the Pro Trinket 3V because it has native USB so it works with all computers, USB serial debugging, and a more reliable boot loader. You can even use backpack Pro Trinket LiPo with this card to add a rechargeable battery.
We have two special pins on the 3V version of this board. There is a VHigh pin, this pin is a power pin with the highest voltage between VBAT and VUSB. We also made digital pin #5 extra special on this board, it connects to a level adapter, so it's only an output but the output is this "high logic". Basically what this means is if you want to drive NeoPixels, a sharp servo or a high voltage LED of this board, and you want a 5V logic level output, this pin is the one you should use!
Here are some practical specifications:
ATmega32u4 embedded chip in QFN package
- Power supply and logic 3.3V, clock frequency 8 MHz, 2KB RAM and 28K FLASH
- USB Bootloader with LED indicator, AVR109 compatible (like Flora, Feather 32u4, Leonardo, etc.)
- Micro-USB plug for powering, downloading and USB debugging, you can put it in a box or tape and use any Micro USB cable for when you want to reprogram.
- Can act as a USB HID Keyboard, mouse, MIDI or simple USB USB USB keyboard' CDC' serial device (default)
- Integrated 3.3V power regulator with 500mA output and very low power loss. Input up to 6V, reverse polarity protection, thermal protection and current limit.
- The special Vhigh output pin gives you the higher voltage of VBAT or VUSB, to drive NeoPixels, servos and other high-current devices. 5-stage offset digital output for high voltage logic output.
- Powered by a USB or external output (such as a battery) on the VBAT pin, it switches automatically.
- Built-in red pin #13 LED red LED red
- 23 GPIO total - 6 analog inputs, 1 SPI port, 1 I2C port, 1 Serial Hardware port and 10 other GPIO ports, including 4 with PWM
- Can control NeoPixels, connect to sensors, servos, etc.
- Reset button to enter the boot loader or restart the program.
- Once the connectors are installed, they can be installed in 0.6 "wide sockets.
