More info
Bosch has been a leader in the field of barometric pressure sensors since the BMP085. BMP180, and BMP280... now here is the new generation, the BMP388 precision barometric pressure sensor. As you might expect, this sensor is similar to its previous versions, but even better. The BMP388 is more accurate than ever, making it excellent for environmental detection or as a precision altimeter. It can even be used in I2C and SPI configurations.
The BMP3xx is Bosch's new generation of sensors and the upgrade to the BMP280 - with low-level noise as low as 0.1 m and the same fast conversion time. And like the previous BMP280, you can use in I2C or SPI. For simple and easy wiring, choose I2C. If you want to connect multiple sensors without worrying about I2C address collisions, choose SPI.
This sensor has a relative accuracy of 8 pascals, which translates into about ± 0.5 meters of altitude (compared to the 12 pascals / ± 1 meter of the BMP280). The data sheet implies that they intend to use this sensor for drones and quadcopters, to keep the altitude stable, but you can also use it for portable objects or any project that wants to track the height above sea level. Note that for absolute height, you will still need to enter the barometric pressure at sea level if the weather changes, but this is true for each altimeter sensor that uses pressure. You can also measure the temperature with an accuracy of ±0.5°C.
Nice sensor, isn't it? We have therefore made it easy for you to move directly to your next project. The sensor is soldered to a printed circuit board and comes with a 3.3 V regulator and level adapter so you can use it with a 3 V or 5 V logic microcontroller without any problems.
