More info
With this Feather card, we get a little nostalgic for the ATmega328P - the classic'Arduino' chip - with this Feather 328P Adafruit running on 3.3V and 8 MHz. Feather is Adafruit's new development card, and as its name suggests, it's thin, lightweight and lets you fly! We have designed Feather as a new standard for portable microcontroller cores.
At the heart of the Feather 328P is an ATmega328P clocked at 8 MHz and 3.3V logic, a chip configuration with which we have had tons of experience as it is the same as the Pro Mini and similar to the Adafruit Metro 328. This chip has 32K flash and 2K RAM, and we paired it with a SiLabs CP2104 to give it USB-serial programming and debugging capability. Works perfectly when you want to keep the compatibility of your classic Arduino code, but want to use a FeatherWings.
For ease of use in portable projects, we have added a connector for any of our 3.7V lithium polymer batteries and integrated battery charging. You do not need a battery, it will work very well directly from the micro USB connector. But, if you have a battery, you can take it on the road, then plug in the USB to charge it. The Feather automatically switches to USB power when available. We have also connected the battery via a divider to an analog pin, so you can measure and monitor the battery voltage to detect when you need charging.
Here are some practical specifications!
Dimensions 2.0" x 0.9" x 0.28" (51mm x 23mm x 8mm) without connectors
Light as a (large?) feather - 4.8 grams
ATmega328p @ 8MHz with 3.3V logic/power supply.
3.3V controller with 500mA max output current
Serial USB converter (CP2104) for USB bootloading and serial port debugging.
tons of pins - 19 pins GPIO + 2 analog input pins only.
I2C and SPI hardware support. For UART, use SoftwareSerial
6 x PWM pins
8 x analog inputs (two are shared with I2C)
Integrated 100mA lipoly charger with charge status indicator.
Pin #13 red LED for general use flashing
Two LEDs for RX & TX serial data
Power/Activation Pin
4 mounting holes
Reset button
The Feather 328P has a little more space, that's why we added a small prototyping area. If you only need to attach a button or sensor, you can put it on a breadboard or wire it directly on.
Delivered fully assembled and tested, with a USB bootloader that allows you to use it quickly with the Arduino IDE. We also add a connector so you can solder it and connect it to a breadboard without soldering. Lipoly battery and USB cable not included.
