Description
We now have a breakout for a tiny MEMS I2S super microphone card. Just like the "classic" electret microphones, MEMS microphones can detect sound and convert it into power, but they are much smaller and thinner. This microphone has even no analog output, it is purely digital. The I2S is a small MEMS microphone at low cost with a beach of approximately 50 Hz to 15 kHz, which is good for almost all of the General records and audio possible.52.
For many microcontrollers, adding an audio is easy with one of our analog microphone cards. But as there are more big and best microcontrollers and microcomputers, you will find that you don't always have an analog input, or maybe you want to avoid the noise that can seep into a system of analog type.
Instead of an analog output, there are three digital pins: Clock, Data, and Left-Right (Word Select) Clock. When it is connected to your microcontroller / computer, the 'Master I2S' will ride the pins clock and selection of a high frequency words and reads the data from the microphone. No analogue conversion is required!
The microphone is one (mono). You can choose if you want it to be on the left or right channel by connecting the Select PIN to food or to ground. If you need a stereo, need you two microphones! You can set them up so they are stereo by sharing lines clock, WS and Data but having one with Select to ground and the other with Select food.
This MEMS I2S microphone is mounted on the back side, so be sure that the hole is oriented towards the sounds you want to read. It is a device of 1.6 - 3.6V max only, so not for use with 5V logic (he ess really unlikely that you would have a device in logic 5V with I2S anyway). Many beginner microcontroller cards do not have I2S, so make sure that it is a supported interface before attempting the cable r! This microphone is especially useful with series chips Cortex M like the Arduino Zero, Feather M0, or computers single-board like the Raspberry Pi.
