More info

A Feather card without ambition is a Feather card without FeatherWings! It is Featherwing driver of a fully assembled DC motor (with collectors) + stepper motor that will allow you to use 2 x bipolar stepper motors or 4 x brushed DC motors (or 1 stepper motor and 2 DC motors). Using our Feather Stacking Headers or Feather Female Headers, you can connect a FeatherWing at the top or bottom of your Featherboard and let the FeatherWing take flight!

The original Adafruit Motorshield kit is one of our most popular kits, so we decided to crush it all together on a FeatherWing to make it even smaller, lighter and portable! Instead of using a latch and the Arduino's PWM pins, we have a dedicated PWM driver chip on board. This chip manages all motor and speed controls on I2C.

Since FeatherWing only uses I2C (SDA & SCL) pins, it works with all Feathers. You can stack it with any other FeatherWing or with itself (make sure you have each wing with a unique I2C address)

FeatherWing engine specifications:

4 complete H-bridges: the TB6612 chipset provides 1.2A per bridge with thermal protection and internal return protection diodes. Can operate motors from 4.5VDC to 13.5VDC.
Up to 4 bidirectional DC motors with individual 12-bit speed selection (resolution approx. 0.02%)
Up to 2 stepper motors (unipolar or bipolar) with single, double, interlaced or microcoil coils.
Motors automatically deactivated when power is turned on
Large 3.5 mm connectors for easy connection of wires (18-26AWG) and power supply.
2-pin terminal block and jumper with polarity protection for connecting the external power supply, for separate logic/motor supplies.
Fully stackable design: 5 address selection jumpers mean up to 32 stackable wings, either 64 steppers or 128 DC motors! What would you do with so many stepladders? I have no idea, but if you have an idea, send us a picture because it would be a rather glorious project.
Download the easy-to-use Arduino software library, check the examples and you're ready to go!

Delivered as FeatherWing assembled and tested with terminal block. Feather and motors are not included. You can use any stepper or DC motor that operates from 4.5 to 13.5 VDC and consumes less than 1.2 A per coil. You will probably also need an external power supply for your engines, as it is not recommended to operate the engines from the Feather's lipo battery.

We have an excellent tutorial in the Adafruit learning system for the largest but similar Motor Shield with lots of documentation and code examples, so please check - Please note that unlike the full shield, there are no servo connections (they would not fit!)
