Description

You can now create a light show dazzling with your Raspberry Pi model A + / B + / Pi 2 with Adafruit RGB Matrix HAT. This HAT lets controller easily RGB matrices to create a screen of colored or mini scrolling LED wall.

This HAT is varaiment not full too, here are some important elements:

  • A simple design :  Plug in the power plug, plug the cable IDC, run your Python code!
  • Protection circuit  : You can plug an AC adapter 5V 4A on the HAT and it will automatically protect against inversion of polarity and overvoltage or undervoltage.
  • Integrated logical level converter : to convert 3.3 V for the Raspberry PI to the logic of 5V for the piloting of the matrix.
  • Integrated RTC DS1307 circuit : To keep track of the time for the raspberry Pi, even when it is restarted or turned off, ideal for the display of hours.

Works with matrices of LED RGB 16 x 32, 32 x 32 or 32 x 64 with a connection HUB75. You can even chain several together for a larger display matrices, you can chain together as many as you want, but more display will be more difficult to manage with a simple Raspberry PI, so keep that in mind! We recommend not more than 32 x 128 configurations.

Note:  This HAT is only for use with RGB type HUB75 matrices. Do not use with NeoPixel, Dotstar, or some other "addressable" LEDs

Each product consists of:

  • a RGB Matrix mounted HAT eta certainly Adafruit
  • a connector 2 x 20 female non welded
  • A connector 2 x 8 IDC male female not welded
  • A connector type Terminal screw 1 X 2 non welded

Battery CR1220 necessary for the use of the RTC is not sold with.

The RGB LED matrix is not sold with.

A 5V power supply is also needed, not included, to power the matrix itself. The Raspberry Pi is unable to do so because of the strong currents. To calculate the maximum current of your matrix in place, multiply the width of the matrix by 0.12: A wide matrix of 32 pixels need 32 * 0.12 = 3.85 A either a power supply 5V 4A for example.
