The Adafruit PCT2075 temperature sensor is a "code compatible" temperature drop sensor in place of a very common I2C temperature sensor, the LM75. Compared to the LM75, however, the 11-bit ADC of the PCT2075 provides more accurate measurements than the 9-bit ADC of the LM75. In addition, since the PCT2075 allows the address pins to operate in three states (high, low, floating), you can have 27 PCT2075 on the same bus compared to only 8 for the LM75. Now you can finally measure the individual temperature of the tentacles of three octopuses instead of just one!

Otherwise, the two sensors are identical. The PCT2075 will report the temperature and allow you to set a high temperature threshold that the probe will compare to the current temperature and trigger an alert when the current temperature exceeds this threshold. There are also a few (metaphorical) buttons to turn to change the alert and measurement behavior.

As with all Adafruit maps, we have done the work to make this help practical at the temperature super easy to use. We have put it on a bypass board with the necessary support circuits and connectors to make it easy to use, and it is now a trend that we have added STEMMA QT JST SH STEMMA Qwiic SparkFun compatible connectors that allow you to start without having to solder. Just use a STEMMA QT adapter cable, plug it into your favorite microphone or a Blinka compatible SBC and you're ready to have fun!


The PCT2075 is a practical and inexpensive temperature sensor that does one thing right. Try adding one to your project and ask them to keep an eye on the weather and let you know when things get hot - or cold!
