More info
Feather is Adafruit's new development card, and as its name suggests, it is thin, light and allows you to fly! We have designed Feather as a new standard for portable microcontroller cores.
This is the Adafruit Feather 32u4 Adalogger - an all-in-one data logger (or data reader) with integrated USB and battery charging. It's an Adafruit Feather 32u4 with a microSD stand ready to rock!
At the heart of the Feather 32u4 is the ATmega32u4, which is clocked at 8 MHz and 3.3V logic, a chip configuration with which we have a lot of experience because it is the same as the Flora's. This chip has 32K flash and 2K RAM, with built-in USB, so not only does it have a USB-to-serial program and built-in debugging capability without the need for an FTDI type chip, it can also act as a mouse, keyboard, USB MIDI device, etc.
To make it easier to use for portable projects, we have added a connector for any of our 3.7V lithium polymer batteries and integrated battery charging. You do not need a battery, it will work very well directly from the micro USB connector. But if you have a battery, you can take it with you on the road, then plug in the USB to charge it. The Feather automatically switches to USB power as soon as it is available. We have also connected the battery via a divider to an analog pin, so you can measure and monitor the battery voltage to detect when you need charging.
Here are some specifications:
Measures 2.0" x 0.9" x 0.28" (51mm x 23mm x 23mm x 8mm) without soldered connectors.
Light as a (large?) feather - 5.1 grams
ATmega32u4 @ 8MHz with logic / 3.3V power supply
3.3V controller with 500mA peak current output
Native USB support, with USB bootloader and serial port debugging
You also get tons of pine trees - 20 pins GPIO
Hardware Series, I2C Hardware, SPI Hardware Support
7 x PWM pins
10 x analog inputs
Integrated 100mA lipoly charger with LED charge status indicator
Pin #13 Red LED for general use flashing
Power supply/activation pin
4 fixing holes
Reset button
The Feather 32u4 Adalogger uses the remaining additional space to add a MicroSD card + a green LED:
Pin #8 User LED
MicroSD slot to add as much storage space as you want, to read or write.
Comes fully assembled and tested, with a USB bootloader that allows you to use it quickly with the Arduino IDE. We also add a connector so you can solder it and connect it to a breadboard. Lipoly battery, MicroSD card and USB cable not included.
