Description

A Feather without ambition is a Feather without FeatherWings! This is the FeatherWing card thermal camera: thanks to the sensor AMG8833 8x8 GridEYE from Panasonic, it adds thermal vision to any Feather main card. Using our Feather stackable connectors or the Female connectors for Feather, you can connect a FeatherWing card to your Feather and let it fly!

This Panasonic sensor is a network of 8x8 IR thermal sensors. Once connected to your Feather, it will return a table of 64 individual infrared temperature readings on I2C. It's like these sophisticated thermal cameras, but compact and simple enough for easy integration.

This part allows measuring temperatures from 0°C to 80°C (32°F to 176°F) with an accuracy of +- 2.5°C (4.5°F). It can detect a human at a range of up to 7 metres (23 feet) away. With a maximum frame rate of 10Hz, it is perfect for creating your own human sensor or mini thermal camera. We have an easy to use Arduino and CircuitPython code so that you can get started quickly. The sensor communicates via I2C. If you have a fast Feather like the ESP8266, ESP32 or Teensy, you can interpolate the 8x8 grid and get nice results!

The AMG8833 is Panasonic's new generation of 8x8 thermal infrared sensors and offers superior performance over its predecessor, the AMG8831. The sensor only supports the I2C, and has a configurable interrupt pin that can be activated when an individual pixel passes above or below a threshold you set.
