Description

For accurate temperature measurement, nothing beats a RTD Glore in Platinum. The RTDs (Resistance temperature detectors) are sensors that contain a resistance that changes depending on the temperature, as a sort of thermistor. In this sensor, resistance is a small band of Platinum which measures 100 ohms at 0 ° C, from which the name PT100. Compared to most of PTC/NTC Thermistors, the PT in RTD is more stable and more precise, but also more expensive. The PT100 have been used for years in the laboratory and industry and she have been proven.

To get a good measure and a good precision with a PT100 temperature sensor, you must use an amplifier able to read a low resistance. Even better if you have an amp that is able to adjust and compensate for the resistance lost in cables. This amplifier ideal for use in 2-, 3-, or 4-wire RTDs PTC100 MAX31865 ets database.

You can connect in SPI connection on your micro-controller, or read directly the analog value from the internal ADC.  A rsitance of accuracy of 430 ohms to 1% is used as reference. A selection of example are provided and are used to calculate the temperature based on the resistance.

This breakout card has its own regulator 3, 3V and a long-standing of signals that can be used in 5V or 3, 3V. Cards are sold assembled and tested with a connector not welded male and two to screw terminals. The probe PT100 is not sold with the amplifier.
