Sometimes I dream of having a miniature dragon sitting on my shoulder while I write code and build projects. Maybe his little puffs of fire could even warm up my soldering iron after lighting it? A lovely fantasy, I know...... So, until genetic engineering catches up with our desires, DragonTail's breakout card will have to do the trick!
The BBC micro:bit is a pretty all-in-one learning card, with LEDs, sensors, and even an integrated Bluetooth LE radio. What it does not have is a connector with a pitch of 0.1", for compatibility with breadboards. Instead, there is a PCB connector at the edge of the card that can be inserted into a corresponding socket. Now, if you want to connect a servo, NeoPixels, or another simple component, you can use our crocodile to pin cables, and this will allow you to connect one or two parts to the power supply and the P0, P1 or P2 pads. But....these alligator clips can slide, and you don't have access to some of the most fun I/O pins, like I2C.
So we made the Adafruit DragonTail for micro:bit. This burst card has the card edge connector for your micro:bit, and then bursts all the pads so that it can be plugged into any breadboard. You even have two pins for the power rail! It is delivered fully assembled - no welding is required. And each pad is clearly labelled: by its name, if it has an analog input, and when it is shared with the LED matrix.
Don't you expect less from your kind pet dragon?
