More info
When you need to change a lot of power, N-channel MOSFETs are the best for the job. These FETs can switch to 60A and 30V and are equipped with TO-220 so that they can be perfectly integrated into any type of breadboard or perfboard. Cooling is easy with the TO-220, but because of the very low Rds(on) up to 0.009 ohms (according to the Vgs - see technical data sheet) you can get by without heating up for quite high loads! The threshold voltage is also very low, less than 2.5V, which allows it to be controlled directly from a microcontroller operating in 2.8V, 3.3V or 5V logic.
The TO-220 can dissipate up to 2 watts without a heat sink (at room temperature). Because it has an Rds as low as 9 milliohms, this means you can switch at least 15 amps without a heat sink - more if you use the PWM. For a more detailed calculation, we propose this site which has always worked well!
