More info

Power over Ethernet (PoE) can make wiring your project child's play - instead of needing one cable for power and data, you can use a single Ethernet cable for both! All you need is this convenient PoE module and access to the central outlets on your Ethernet card. Connect the four input wires and get 5V 1.8A regulated on the other side. Unbelievable!

This version of the PoE module has a transformer in the center, it is the big piece, so there is no direct electrical connection between the power/ground 5V cables and Ethernet.

This module works well with the Raspberry Pi 3 model B+, which has all 4 wires on one connector. As you can see on our pictures, you only need a few female-to-female wires to route the Ethernet wires to the module, then two wires to bring the 5V back to the header. Note that even if a 2.5A power supply is recommended for a Pi 3B+, this is only necessary if you attach a bunch of accessories (like a 7" screen!) 1.5A will cover a wide range of uses, as the current consumed is about 0.7A max without extras.

We also have an insulated version of this module, when you want an electrical separation.
