Description

For all those who feared that their Game Boy days would be just a memory, don't worry anymore! The Game Boy may be dead, but with this pack, you'll have a chance to raise it again. We've assembled all the right parts so you can make the GameGRRL - a portable PI Rasperry with MAME and NES emulators.
This is version 2.0! We have updated this project for the Raspberry Pi 2 or 3 with more buttons (D-Pad, A, B, X, Y, Y, L, R, Pause and Start) and four additional buttons on the PiTFT.
This portable emulation station is called PiGRRL and consists of a Rapberry Pi 2 and a PiTFT display. You will need to do the 3D printing, assembly and installation yourself to get games, but our learning guide will help you review the process.
This PiGRRL pack has just about everything you need to complete this project, EXCEPT the Raspberry Pi, the case, the battery, the wires and hardware, and the hand tools for welding, cutting, etc. You will need to print your own 3-D box. You need a lipoly battery ~ 2500mAh and we guarantee that it will work with our batteries. Using the wrong polarity or chemical battery can destroy your PiGrrl project.
With this update, we really wanted to make construction easier. We have significantly reduced the build time by creating a custom gamepad PCB. Simply solder the buttons and an IDC connector to the gamepad PCB. No more tedious button wiring!
.
You will also need to weld together the parts, as many hand tools and other small parts, such as wires, screws, etc. Please read the tutorial so that you can see what it takes to complete this project!
Note that this is a medium difficulty project that uses many Maker skills such as soldering, 3D printing and Linux installation! The PiGRRL2 is a fun version, but it's a do-it-yourself project, it won't have perfect audio/video/emulation capabilities.
