Play all the audio files as you wish with the Adafruit Music Maker FeatherWing + Amplifier! This is a fun version of the Music Maker shield for Arduino, and similar to our other FeatherWing, but this one is even better - with an integrated 3 Watt amplifier! This powerful wing is equipped with the VS1053, an encoding/decoding chip (codec) that can decode a wide variety of audio formats such as MP3, AAC, Ogg Vorbis, WMA, MIDI, FLAC, WAV (PCM and ADPCM). You can do all kinds of things with audio, such as adjusting bass, treble and volume in digital.
All these features are implemented in a lightweight SPI interface that allows any Feather Board to play audio from an SD card. There is also a special MIDI mode in which you can start the chip that will read the'classic' 31250Kbaud MIDI data from the UART TX pin and act as a synthesizer/drummer - there are dozens of drum effects and built-in samples!
What a great musical addition to your Feather! That's why we designed this great FeatherWing, perfect for use with any of our Feathers cards! Music playback test with ATmega32u4, ATSAMD M0, ESP8266, WICED Teensy 3, and nRF52 Feathers. MIDI playback works with all Feathers but you may need to remove the'Wing' during programming and also for USB-Serial Feathers like the ESP8266 and nRF52 you will end up reusing the main serial console for MIDI which can cause confusion.

Each order comes with a tested FeatherWing, two 3.5 mm 2-pin terminals and two 0.1" male connectors to connect it to your Feather. A little light soldering is required to attach the connectors and through-hole terminals to the printed circuit board to connect them to your Feather Board and speakers.
Once you have soldered the terminals, you can connect any loudspeaker of your choice, such as our 4Ω 3W or 8Ω 1W. You can even use a surface transducer! Don't forget to make sure you have a good 5V power supply - especially if you use the 3W 4 ohms speakers! Our 2.4A socket outlet is recommended.
Note: The terminals provided with your product can be blue or black.
